The international programme will recall, question, remix and reframe the history of contemporary dance through performances, workshops and discussions. Built on the ethos of a camp-like process of doing and experiencing together, the event brings together dance artists from different generations and offers programme for both professionals and general audiences. More information about the master class
In connection to the piece VIEW.POINT.MARY by the Berlin-based Cranky Bodies a/company we invite you to explore some of our improvisation-based work methods.

After a warm-up, we will dive into the Six Viewpoints created by Mary Overlie, a visionary dancer and choreographer who developed a new system for theater and dance. Mary has influenced generations of dancers in New York as a co-founder of movement research and the experimental theater wing, in Europe as the founder of the Pro Series at Impulstanz Vienna, and as teacher at progressive dance departments at Art Universities in The Netherlands. Her method is based on the idea that anyone working in the performing arts can enhance their ability to communicate with the ensemble and the audience, as everyone becomes an observer/participant in the Six Viewpoints (Space, Time, Shape, Emotion/Presence, Movement, Story/Logic).

Alongside we’ll explore Cranky Authentic Movement Structures as a key method for VIEW.POINT.MARY.

Peter Pleyer studied dance at the European Dance Development Center (EDDC) in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Since 2000, he has been living in Berlin with a strong interest in new methods of dance training and composition, with improvisation playing a central role. In 2014, he successfully resumed his choreographic work with the solo Ponderosa Trilogy and the group pieces visible undercurrent and moving the mirror (2015–21). Together with visual composer Michiel Keuper, he founded Cranky Bodies a/company in 2020, dedicated to interdisciplinary work on improvisational group performances.
