Liisa Pentti +Co organises a dance and music improvisation day open to all at Helsinki Central Library Oodi's Maijansali, with free admission. The event includes workshops on music and dance improvisation and performances by young and more experienced artists alike. Eleven internationally working dancers and musicians perform on stage in different line-ups, including Giorgio Convertito, Sybrig Dokter (NL/SE), Emma Kerttula, Jukka Kääriäinen, Troels Strange Lorenzen, Libero Mureddu, Corinne Mustonen, Nelia Naumanen, Liisa Pentti, Paul Pignon (UK/SE) and Satu Rekola.
The event is part of Liisa Pentti +Co’s ongoing series Discover Contemporary Dance, organised yearly at Oodi. It is also a part of Liikkeellä Marraskuussa festival’s Focus on the Local Landscape programme.
The event is supported by Kulturfonden för Sverige och Finland.

12–12.45 Music improvisation workshop (45 min)
Led by guitarist and sound artist Jukka Kääriäinen, the workshop dives into improvisation in a group: how does interaction work when improvising with others? Participants should have some experience with their instrument and bring an instrument with them.

This workshop introduces you to the different elements and tasks on which dance improvisation can be based. The workshop is led by choreographer and dancer Liisa Pentti. You can participate even if you have no dance experience. All you need are comfortable clothes and an interest in movement and improvisation. Different bodies and ways of moving are welcome. Workshop languages: Finnish, Swedish and English.
