Mabel Revival is a joyous and shameless mixture of dance, performance, and DIY cabaret. Choreographer and dancer Liisa Pentti and actor-musician Robert Kock lead the spectator to the mysterious and enchanted world of divas, those objects of admiration and desire.

Mabel is a woman with no shame or remorse, a modern-day shaman and prostitute who dances, growls and sings, captivates as well as confuses. The work is a tribute to femininity and female performers, whose charisma and sensuality bring the stage to life, mediating bodily affect and knowledge. To live fully, we must also talk about death and visit the land of dreams, if only at night...

The work premiered at Zodiak – Center for New Dance in 2008, and has been performed around Finland. Pentti brings her performance to Turku’s Tehdas Theatre at the golden hour of all divas, the Christmas party season!

DIVA WORKSHOP
What kind of bodily diva essence does our era suggest, an era where social media divas and bling bling are fully commercialized as part of our everyday lives? Where are to be found the demigods, whose presence is unrestrained and irresistible? By way of various exercises on bodily movement and imagination, the workshop focuses on creating spaces for each one’s own inner diva and its different appearances, as well as getting acquainted with diva animals. The workshop can be attended by anyone interested in the topic, and it does not require past experience of being a diva.
