How is the unwritten history of dance present and relevant today? Is it relevant at all in a world operating in a now-now fractal economy? Will the history of dance be scrapped before it has had a chance to properly claim its place in the narrative of the arts?

And who was Fred Herko? These and other questions of dance history will be addressed in a seminar organised by Liisa Pentti +Co.

Speakers include Peter Pleyer from Germany, Kaja Kann from Estonia, Liisa Pentti, Liisa Risu and Anna Torkkel.

14:30 Peter Pleyer: Meeting Fred - who was Fred Herko?
Lifting the curtain of this preinvented world. Peter Pleyer will also talk about his upcoming production "Visible Undercurrent" which will explore the work of Sasha Waltz and Meg Stuart in relation to post-Judsonian dance thinking and how the legacy of Judson spread in Europe through the SNDO and EDDC schools.Discussion on the topic15:30 Final discussion with Anna Torkkel & Liisa Risu.

Peter Pleyer studied dance at the European Dance Development Centre/Art Academy Arnhem in the Netherlands. He has taught at several European festivals and dance schools, and has been artistic director of Tanztage Berlin since 2007.

Kaja Kann is a versatile professional in performance art, dance and circus and was awarded the Estonian state prize for best contemporary dance work in 2006. She is the author of the book "Private Road", which is accompanied by the exhibition "Who stole a day?" and the solo performance "Be Real My Dear".
