12 artists and working groups selected for the summer residency programme
Artists and working groups for the summer 2021 residency have now been selected. The application period ended on 30.5. and we received a total of 34 high-quality applications. This year we are able to offer 8 weeks of residency periods between 21.6.-18.7. and 26.7.-22.8.
The artists selected for the 2021 summer residency are Jenni-Elina von Bagh, Ella Effendy, Leena Harjunpää Co, Ella Holappa, Anna-Maria Häkkinen & Maija Mustonen, Mathilda Kauppila, Eevi Kinnunen, Jenni Kivelä & working group, Assi Pakkanen & working group, Marjukka Savolainen & working group, Silja Tuovinen and Anna Virkkunen.
We were impressed by how high-quality and interesting all the applications and proposed projects were. A lot of thought and effort had gone into writing the applications and the ideas were very creative. In the selection process, we wanted to put emphasis on supporting young and recently graduated artists and projects that don’t have a strong production framework, networks or other confirmed residencies. We valued the clarity and specificity of the working plan for the residency period as well as the explorative and researched nature of the work. The selection process was directed at projects that identify as contemporary dance or performance art.
A big thank you to all the applicants!
